Vaike is worked HOLDING 2 STRANDS TOGETHER from the narrow point of the left edge. Stitches are increased every RS row in the cable pattern and then onward into the Stockinette stitch section. A cute 3 x 1 ribbing is worked last. The combination of cables, stockinette and ribbing give this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.
80” (203 cm) wingspan, 48.5” (123 cm) wide at full side of right edge.
US 3 (3.25 mm) circular needle, 40” (100 cm) long for ribbing
US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, 40” (100 cm) long or size needed to get gauge.
22.5 sts x 30 rows = 4” (10 cm) in cable pattern after blocking.
18 sts x 30 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect yardage and final size when different.
