Product Description

We are delighted to announce the new annual shearing and color palette for Rosy Green Wool’s Melange Yarns!  There are 14 new colors, including 7 for Heb Merino Fine and 7 for Manx Merino Fine.

The yarn and color selection is designed so that the yarns are completely interchangeable and work together for colorwork as well as single color patterns.  Heb Merino Fine is a Fingering weight yarn with 200m/50g (218yds/50g) that is particularly suitable for Fair Isle knitting, shawls, accessories, and luxurious tops. Because of its high share of softest Merino wool it can be worn comfortably on the skin.

More about Hebridean Sheep

Hebridean is a formerly endangered sheep breed that is originally from Scotland and survived on the islands of the Hebrides. On these islands in the northwest of Scotland, the living conditions are extreme. Hebridean sheep show a tremendous adaptabilty which helped them survive in this inhospitable environment and rough climate when Scotland switched to commercially more versatile breeds in sheep farming.  Rosy Green Wool refines the dark Hebridean wool with their very soft, white Merino wool in order to create the luxurious mélange yarn Heb Merino Fine.

Since this yarn comes from a rare breed sheep, it is only available in small quantities each year.  There is one dyelot and each skein is individually numbered.
