Pattern Details

Shown in Cornish Slate

Festa is knit top down with a modular join as you go construction - starting with the left back shoulder, followed by the right back shoulder, these are then joined together by casting-on back neck stitches. The left front shoulder is then worked with incorporated neck increases and the same repeated for the right – all shoulders feature German short rows for an improved fit. Both front and back shoulders are then joined together by a three-needle bind-off worked on the outside as an added design feature. The front and back body panels are joined together at the underarms and the cardigan is worked back and forth to the hem incorporating decreases to achieve the unusual cocoon shape. A Vikkel braid is formed mid-way down the armhole which flows down the body by slipping sts and creates a beautiful, curved line. Latvian braids are worked at the shoulders and hems for added detail. The sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round. The standout neckline is picked up last and incorporates German short rows to create the shawl collar curve. The placket extends out at the hem to form pockets, these are also shaped with German short rows and are grafted to the body and hem.
