DAYTON SWEATER
by Shellie Anderson

DAYTON is a boxy pullover with a high-low vented hem and a large contrasting block of color that wraps around the side. It is designed with 10-12” of positive ease. That means the finished size includes 10”-12” more than your actual bust measurement.

DAYTON is knit from the bottom up. The front and back are worked flat then joined at the shoulders. Sleeves are picked up at the armhole edge, worked flat, then seamed. Techniques used for this garment include German Twisted cast-on, Slipped Stitches, German Short Rows, Binding off in the center of a row and 3-Needle Bind-off. Shellie provides excellent directions for each of these techniques. In addition, she provides instructions for making the color change in the middle of the row for the front and the back.

Maker’s Note: Since DAYTON does not include shaping in the body the finished bust and finished hem measurements are the same. Why is that important? If you decide you want less positive ease in your bust, be sure to select a size that will still fit your hip circumference.
