Last year, we joined Melanie Berg to raise money for the Against Malaria Foundation at Vogue Knitting Live - NYC. Thanks to you, Yarn Culture was able to purchase 232 bednets for use by children and families. Why was that important? Every two minutes a child dies of Malaria, 93% of them in sub-saharan African countries as of 2017 (source: the World Health Organization). Mosquitoes are most active at night, so sleeping under a bednet treated with insecticides can drastically reduce the number of infections. A net only costs $2-3 and lasts up to four years.
This year Melanie has partnered with Patrick from Rosy Green Wool to create Knitters Against Malaria and has invited our global knitting community to help. We knitters can save lives for less than a coffee from Starbucks.
Please join us, as well as your other favorite designers, dyers and yarn shops, by donating to the Against Malaria Foundation.
