We all know you have one, and it might be too big. The New Year is always a great time to organize and de-stash and we would like to help! Beginning Jan 2, 2019, bring the yarn you would like to re-home to Yarn Culture. Our drop-off dates are January 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th from 10am to 4pm.
Then join us beginning Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 3-7pm for our 2019 BIG YARN DE-STASH SALE! We'll sell donated yarn for up to 75% off of the suggested retail price. When will the sale end? Saturday, January 12 at 5pm or whenever the stash is gone - whichever comes first.
100% of De-Stash proceeds will go to Knitting 4 Peace. Leftover yarn will be donated to Crafts Bits and Pieces in Fairport, NY. Find out more about both organizations below.
WE DO HAVE REQUIREMENTS FOR DONATED YARN. Here is what we can accept:
- Full Skeins with original label: no UFOs; no wound yarn; no partial skeins
- Deliver yarn in sealed plastic bags
- Bag multiple skeins of the same yarn/dye lots so we can sell them together.
- Bring yarn YOU would love to buy so we can sell it to someone like you! That's how we can raise the most money for Knitting 4 Peace.
So dive into that stash and start weeding!
ABOUT OUR CHARITIES
Knit for Peace: Knit for Peace believes that “knitting (and crochet) is good for people. As well as being fun and therapeutic, knitting brings people together and gives a way of helping others in need, providing benefits both to the knitter and the recipient”. They have learned that “knitting is extremely important as an activity that can be carried out right into extreme old age and helps improve long-term health, both mental and physical”. Knitters from around the world are generous with sending yarn and knitted items, but Knit for Peace also needs money to organize and ship the donations. Find out more at: https://www.knitting4peace.org/
Crafts Bits and Pieces: Their mission is to generate revenue to support the Senior Options for Independence, Care Management and Transportation programs which benefit senior citizens who reside in Perinton. Staffed by volunteers, they offer donated home decoration and craft supplies at low prices. For more information go to: https://craftbitsandpieces.com/.
