Ainu: Urban Street Style Meets Lace with Rosy Green Wool

Oct 9th

Street-smart and gorgeously feminine,  Ainu  is a new shawl by Isabell Kraemer designed using  Rosy Green Wool's thicker yarn, Big Merino Hug or one of our yarn-only kits.  It can be knitted larger or smaller and the extraordinary, elegant lace pattern creates an exciting contrast to the casual garter stitch section.   With a name that is reminiscent of the aborigines of North Japan, no matter how we combine this versatile piece, we can't wait to cut loose and go out with it!

Ainu  was truly a pleasure to knit and is a garment I expect to reach for all winter.  I ended up using 3 1/2 skeins of  Big Merino Hug  and went down a needle size since I tend to be a loose knitter.  Like always, make sure you check your gauge early on so you can be sure you have enough yarn.

We've put together  a yarn-only kit including 3 1/2 skeins of yarn.  If you prefer other colors or more or less yarn than the kit offers, check out our  open stock assortment of Big Merino Hug.  We also offer beautiful  hard copies of Ainu.  Unfortunately we cannot provide PDFs, so be sure to buy your pattern from Ravelry if that's what you prefer.

Level of difficulty: easy.

You need 3 skeins of  Big Merino Hug.  The shawl in the images is knitted with the color Cornish Slate.
Needles: US 10 (6 mm) circular needle, 40“ (100 cm) long. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
