If you’re looking for a shawl that wraps around your shoulders like a cozy hug, Ating is for you.
This generously sized triangle wrap was designed by Inese Sang a Latvian knitwear designer whose designs we have featured previously including the Ravie poncho and the Kaapa Shawl.
Ating was designed used Rosy Green Wool’s Big Merino Hug – the light Aran weight “sister” to Cheeky Merino Joy. Perfect for knitters who prefer a thicker weight yarn that’s not too bulky, Big Merino Hug has the same excellent stitch definition and soft hand one finds with Cheeky Merino Joy.
Ating begins with a garter tab cast-on and features a body texture of subtle rib stitch growing symmetrically on both sides of the center “spine” and giving the body it’s triangular shape. The hem features a large diamond pattern – a lovely compliment to the structured look of the body.
Directions for the pattern are presented in charted and written form. This design is appropriate for both novices looking to grow their textured knitting and simple lace skills and more experienced knitters.
Ating was designed for Rosy Green Wool’s 2021 collection which is themed “touch”. The name Ating derives from Romanian and means I touch.
